On a forum I visited, some people were getting worried about the LHC at CERN in Switzerland producing a black hole. In fact, this seemed to be a rather common public concern. I couldn't resist the opportunity to respond to all the scaremongering. A real physicist will probably laugh at my calculations, but I don't truly care. Even if I'm off by several orders of magnitude, there will be nothing to worry about.

Being a bit obsessed about the perfect retro game experience, I like to run my old games through DOSBox with various different configurations. What can I say? Sometimes I like to hear Space Quest 3 with AdLib sound, sometimes in glorious MT-32 and occasionally, I like to giggle at the PC speaker bleeps.

Pictor/PC Paint has been my bitmap editor of choice for many years. In May of 2007, I created a small patch for version 3.1 of PC Paint to enable it to run properly in DOSBox. Having seen this, Canadian software developer Bill Buckels sent me an e-mail and contacted John Bridges asking him for permission to distribute the program for free. As John graciously agreed, I am delighted to be able to offer you the original version of PC Paint 3.1 for download. I've set up a separate page for it.

Even though I've known that I'm gay even since the age of 6, it's not something I had ever told anybody about until this week. I was tired of feeling I needed to hide. On Sunday, in church, it became too much for me to handle and I decided to finally come out of the proverbial closet. I called my parents and my sister to say that I needed to tell them something. They didn't ask any questions, and just assumed it was important. We agreed to meet at my parents' house on Tuesday for dinner. Since I knew I wouldn't be able to talk, I wrote everything down in a letter. I must've read and tweaked that thing a thousand times between Sunday and Tuesday evening.
